Aachen, July 1, 2025 – Voltfang, a leading provider of green battery storage solutions for industrial, commercial, and large-scale storage applications, has signed an aval agreement with Commerzbank for EUR 3 million. This will enable Voltfang to supplement and expand its financing structure and accelerate its growth in order to further advance the energy transition with high-performance energy storage systems.
The debt capital will be used to implement large-scale battery projects – an area that is currently experiencing considerable interest and demand. Large-scale battery storage systems that serve the grid are indispensable for German energy policy. They contribute significantly to the stability, cost reduction, and security of supply of the energy grid by, among other things, balancing fluctuations and reducing grid bottlenecks.
“The aval line between Voltfang and Commerzbank marks another significant milestone for our company. It not only strengthens our financial foundation, but also sends a strong signal of confidence to our customers and partners. This agreement confirms the attractiveness and market leadership of our battery storage solutions, which make a decisive contribution to the stability and efficiency of the energy transition,” explains David Oudsandji, CEO and co-founder of Voltfang.
“We are delighted to have Commerzbank as a reliable and entrepreneurial partner at our side. This collaboration not only validates our business model, but also underscores Commerzbank’s strong positioning as a partner to small and medium-sized enterprises and a promoter of sustainable innovation. With Commerzbank’s support, we can continue to drive our expansion and help Germany offer an alternative to overpriced grid expansion and master the energy transition,” adds Dr. Gerrit Janke, CFO of Voltfang.
Christine Rademacher, Divisional Head of Financial Engineering at Commerzbank, emphasized: “It is important to facilitate access to debt capital for young companies that want to actively shape the transformation of the real economy. Financing instruments such as guarantee facilities can support these companies in their expansion and thus contribute to the decarbonization of the economy as a whole.”
Christian Steffenhagen, Senior Specialist Financial Engineering in Commerzbank’s West Region, said: “Voltfang is a prime example of the innovative strength of young companies in the Cologne-Bonn-Aachen area. Numerous companies have set themselves the goal of advancing the energy transition. At Commerzbank, we want to support them with tailor-made financing solutions.”
