FAQs Energy management system

The EMS is the central control instrument for the entire battery storage system. It monitors, controls and optimizes the energy flow between the storage system, the generation (e.g. PV), the consumers and the public grid in real time. The aim is to increase energy efficiency, reduce energy costs and optimize the carbon footprint. The EMS enables intelligent networking and data evaluation in order to individually implement energy flows in the company.

The main applications include:
  • Peak shaving to avoid expensive power prices.
  • Self-consumption optimization to make optimum use of self-generated electricity (e.g. from PV systems).
  • Energy Trader to purchase energy when it is cheap.
  • Trading to buy energy cheaply and sell it at a higher price.

The EMS continuously creates an electricity consumption forecast. A cost-optimized schedule for the battery is calculated on this basis. Energy is charged from the grid when it is cheap and consumption is covered when energy is expensive in order to minimize grid consumption. This significantly reduces the average electricity price.

Participation in the energy market takes place via the EMS as an intelligent interface that connects the storage facility with qualified energy marketers with whom Voltfang cooperates. In this way, the EMS can convert the marketer’s signals in real time in order to maximize the customer’s yield.

The EMS protects the valuable battery hardware by precisely controlling and monitoring the operating parameters. Voltfang’s EMS is optimized to virtually prevent cell ageing through adapted charging and discharging cycles

Voltfang offers full-service packages and assumes full responsibility and monitors the systems around the clock from a central dashboard.

VENMA is Voltfang’s central web app platform for managing energy management. It offers a real-time overview, analysis functions and enables the visualization of all relevant use cases, such as self-consumption optimization or peak load capping.
