Frenger Ladepark – Public fast charging infrastructure
The Frenger charging park in Cologne shows how PV systems, battery storage and smart control can work together: Several charging points are available in the on-site parking lot – including two 300 kW HPC fast chargers and 22 kW AC charging points. The battery storage system makes optimum use of the company’s own solar energy and offers customers a favorable charging price.

- Industry: Public charging infrastructure
Benefits for the charging park
Implemented use case
A public charging park with fast and normal charging stations was set up in the company’s parking lot. The combination of a 500 kWp PV system and battery storage ensures that a large proportion of the energy is generated and stored locally. Thanks to intelligent energy management, the charging infrastructure remains available at all times and customers can charge at an attractive price.
Aim of the project
The aim of the project was to build a sustainable charging infrastructure in Cologne that is both environmentally and economically viable. The operator wanted to make efficient use of its own PV electricity, avoid grid loads and at the same time generate new revenue through public charging services.
Our customized solution
A 360 kWh battery storage system with 360 kW output was installed, combined with a 500 kWp PV system and smart controls. This system optimizes self-consumption, stabilizes the charging infrastructure and makes attractive prices possible for users.
