Sustainable School Nuremberg
With the construction of the new Viatis School, the city of Nuremberg is focusing on sustainability right from the start: A passive house standard, photovoltaic system, battery storage and heat pump ensure a reliable energy supply. Around 400 pupils benefit daily from climate-friendly electricity and a modern learning environment.

Benefits for Viatis School
Implemented use case
The school was planned according to the passive house standard and equipped with modern building technology. A PV system supplies renewable electricity, which is stored in the battery storage system and intelligently controlled. This ensures that the classrooms, lunchtime supervision and after-school care are supplied with electricity at all times – without having to rely on expensive grid extensions.
Our customized solution
A 90 kWh battery storage system with 50 kW output was installed, combined with a heat pump and smart energy management. The system ensures that the PV electricity generated is used optimally, increasing self-consumption and efficiency and making the school a showcase project for climate-friendly energy supply in the education sector.
