Sequential multi-use is a special form of multi-use. In this case, a battery storage system fulfils different applications one after another in time, instead of carrying them out simultaneously.
A battery storage system can, for example, be used during the day for peak shaving and charge electricity at low prices at night from a dynamic electricity tariff. Through this temporal separation, the storage system is utilised optimally over the entire course of the day.
An intelligent energy management system controls the storage system in a time-dependent manner and decides which application is currently most sensible. This ensures an economically optimal use of the storage system.
Sequential multi-use means that a battery storage system fulfils different applications one after another in time, for example peak shaving during the day and charging at low electricity prices at night.
In sequential multi-use, applications are used separately in time, whereas in parallel multi-use several applications take place simultaneously.
Typical combinations are peak shaving, charging at low prices under a dynamic electricity tariff and the use of self-generated solar power.
Since the storage system is used for different applications at different times, its utilisation increases and with it its profitability.
An energy management system controls the storage system in a time-dependent manner and ensures that the optimal application is used at the right time.
