Energy Transition at the Fuel Pump: JET Deploys Fast-Charging Infrastructure with Voltfang Battery Storage in Hamburg Without Grid Expansion

Aachen, Sept 11, 2025 – Voltfang, a leading German provider of green battery storage systems for industrial, commercial, and grid-scale applications, together with energy infrastructure specialist Omexom Smart Technologies and the JET fueling network, has commissioned a 300 kW HPC fast-charging station with two charging points in Hamburg—without requiring grid expansion. The project demonstrates how traditional fuel stations can be transformed into modern mobility hubs.

The fast charger is connected to a 360 kWh Voltfang battery that is continuously charged via the existing 80 kW grid connection. Acting as an intelligent power buffer, the storage system dynamically balances peak loads and prevents grid overload. In combination with an energy management system and a controllable distribution board from Omexom Smart Technologies, it ensures stable grid usage while enabling a maximum charging capacity of up to 300 kW for electric vehicles. This eliminates the need for costly grid upgrades that are typically required for fast-charging stations of this scale.

“This project shows that transforming traditional fuel stations into climate-friendly charging hubs is possible without expensive grid expansions. Our solution allows fuel station operators like JET to enter the e-mobility future quickly and cost-effectively,” says David Oudsandji, CEO and Co-Founder of Voltfang.

Afshin Doostdar, CTO and Co-Founder of Voltfang, adds: “With this joint mobility hub project, we create a balance between grid stability, maximum charging power, and cost efficiency. Fast-charging stations with battery storage reduce grid load and avoid costly grid expansion through intelligent load management strategies. Even at sites with weak grid infrastructure, they enable ultra-fast charging by supporting grid performance and preventing power spikes.”

The project is a prime example of successfully linking energy supply and the mobility transition.
