Turning land into the future – become part of the energy transition now

The energy transition needs stable solutions – and that is exactly where we come in. As a grid-scale provider, we develop stand-alone large-scale battery storage systems for suitable sites. Our storage systems stabilize the grid, balance fluctuations in renewable energy, and ensure a reliable power supply.
Companies such as Aldi, McDonald’s and Rossmann use our battery storage systems to store surplus energy and operate more sustainably. By using second-life EV batteries, we make renewable energy efficiently usable and actively contribute to sustainable resource use.

What does that mean for you as a landowner?

Which sites are suitable for leasing?

We are looking for available sites to build stand-alone large-scale battery storage systems near substations or medium-voltage connections.

Our requirements

Battery storage park vs. solar park

Battery storage park Solar park
Lease payment
€10–€20/m² per year – that is 5 to 8 times more than solar parks.
€1–€3/m² per year
Land use
Still partially usable (e.g., commercial sites, green strips, parking lots)
Land is permanently occupied
Planning law & permitting
Potentially a privileged development project – easier to implement
Often lengthy permitting processes
Planning & maintenance
Voltfang handles planning, permitting & maintenance
Owner responsible for cleaning & maintenance
Term & income security
Long-term contracts (15+ years) with stable lease payments
Income depends on sunshine hours & market prices

Sustainability that pays off

Lease payments of
€10–€20/m² per year – for at least 15 years

Installation of sustainable second-life batteries in our large-scale storage systems

Suitable sites are level, well-developed areas near substations or medium-voltage lines. Brownfield sites, commercial areas, or unused land are particularly attractive. Secure access and a location without flood risk are important.

Landowners can generate annual income by leasing their land. With 1,000 m², up to €10,000–€20,000 per year is possible – depending on location and proximity to the grid connection. This often makes grid-scale projects significantly more lucrative than solar parks.

As a rule, sites from 450 m² are economically attractive. Smaller plots can be used in exceptional cases if the grid connection is particularly favorable.

The lease agreements typically run for 15 to 30 years. After that, the facility is dismantled and the site is restored to its original condition.

Payments are contractually guaranteed for at least 15 years, often with automatic extensions. In addition, the lease payments are regularly indexed, so they are protected against inflation.

Minimal. Voltfang handles site assessment, permits, construction, operation and maintenance. Owners do not need to be actively involved.

The facilities are emission-free and quiet. The only operating noise comes from ventilation systems and transformers, which are insulated so that statutory limits are not exceeded. During construction, there may be temporary traffic and noise; afterwards, any impact is barely noticeable.

Yes. Both farmers and private individuals can lease suitable sites – residual areas or land with low agricultural use are particularly interesting.

Voltfang will review your site details free of charge (site plan or coordinates) and assess suitability based on grid connection, site area and permitting feasibility.
